Do you have very large basins or tanks with significant liquid-level fluctuations? The FRIESS W20-V industrial oil skimmer is designed for this application.
The FRIESS W20-V tube-type industrial oil skimmer is suitable for medium and large basins, tanks and enclosed underground tanks with small access openings. Its collection tube passes through narrow openings, sweeps a large liquid surface and continuously removes floating oil at recovery rates of up to 230 L/h.
The W20-V tube-type industrial oil skimmer is designed to remove floating oil from basins that may be 10 m long or longer.
Its innovative operating principle allows the collection range to cover the entire liquid surface.
The collection tube moves across the surface and creates a gentle wave that carries floating oil towards it. Oil adheres to the outside of the tube and is transported into the skimmer. Highly wear-resistant ceramic scrapers remove the oil from the tube, and the recovered waste oil flows into an external collection tank.
The robust W20-V industrial oil skimmer is engineered for continuous 24-hour operation. Components that contact the collection tube are made from highly wear-resistant ceramic, while the skimmer body is manufactured from corrosion-resistant stainless steel for use with industrial liquids containing particles, chips or oil contamination.
Depending on oil viscosity and floating-layer thickness, the W20-V can recover up to 230 L/h. Different installation configurations allow it to operate in open basins, underground tanks and enclosed process tanks.
Q1: What is the difference between the W20-V and W40 oil skimmers?
A: Both are tube-type oil skimmers. The W20-V is intended for medium and large basins, particularly enclosed underground tanks with small access openings. The W40 is designed for open large tanks more than 800 mm wide and can serve tanks over 20 m long. Both models recover up to 230 L/h.
Q2: How does the W20-V operate in an enclosed underground tank?
A: The collection tube passes through a small access opening and moves freely across the liquid surface. Recovered oil is conveyed through a pipe to an external collection drum, so personnel do not need to enter the tank. The same system also works in open medium and large basins.
Q3: Can it be used in basins longer than 10 m?
A: Yes. Different configuration options allow the W20-V to suit basins over 10 m long and a wide range of installation conditions.
Q4: What is the permitted operating temperature?
A: The W20-V operates from −20 °C to +75 °C. For process liquids above 75 °C, the S100 model is recommended and can operate at up to 95 °C.
Q5: How much maintenance is required?
A: Very little. Tube-contact components are made from highly wear-resistant ceramic, and the skimmer body is stainless steel. The system is designed for continuous 24-hour operation with minimal routine maintenance.
In addition to reducing costs, FRIESS oil skimmers, electrostatic oil cleaners, magnetic filters, coolant purification systems, oil separators and vacuum oil purifiers offer many other advantages.
