Large-Area Floating-Oil Removal for Small, Narrow Tanks
When tank space and mounting positions are restricted, the FRIESS WBS inclined belt oil skimmer provides continuous oil removal with an installation width of only 80 mm. Its inclined oleophilic belt meets the liquid surface at a shallow angle, drawing floating oil toward the belt and expanding the effective collection area.
Like all FRIESS systems, the WBS uses proven, in-house-developed technology to remove floating oil from a wide range of process liquids.
Compared with conventional vertical belt skimmers, the WBS inclined belt contacts a larger portion of the oil layer and improves floating-oil removal in compact tanks. After double deflection, the belt runs vertically, so the unit requires very little mounting space and is well suited to machine-tool emulsion tanks, compact degreasing baths and other space-constrained process tanks.
Both use oleophilic belts. The BS mounts its belt vertically and is 160 mm wide. The WBS uses an inclined belt that meets the oil layer at a shallow angle, covers a larger effective area and requires only 80 mm of installation width.
The models differ in height and belt length. WBS10 has a 110 mm discharge height and 1,150 mm belt; WBS20 has 350 mm and 1,500 mm; WBS30 has 700 mm and 2,200 mm. All are 80 mm wide and recover 2–15 L/h.
The shallow belt angle moves the liquid surface and draws floating oil from a larger area toward the belt. Double deflection in the vertical direction also keeps the installation footprint extremely small.
Yes. FRIESS offers several belt materials so the skimmer can be matched to the process liquid and oil type for efficient removal and long belt life.
Typical applications include machine-tool emulsion tanks, compact degreasing systems, CNC metalworking, surface treatment, modular wastewater plants and other narrow process tanks.
Beyond cost savings, FRIESS oil skimmers, electrostatic oil cleaners, magnetic filters, coolant purification systems, oil-water separators and vacuum oil purifiers provide many additional benefits.
