One of Turkey’s largest steel mills was using a skimmer from another manufacturer (Skimmer Co., model 6V) in the settling basin for its cold rolling mill cooling water. The plant was dissatisfied with both its performance and on-site service. A more efficient, lower-maintenance solution was needed to remove the oil accumulating on the cooling-water surface.
Our sales partner in Turkey contacted the steel producer and presented the FRIESS product range. The FRIESS S100 oil skimmer had already proven itself repeatedly at other sites operated by the same steel group, handling heavy tramp-oil contamination in steel-industry cooling water and wastewater even under high dirt loads.
Based on this established trust and FRIESS experience with high-performance skimmers in steel production, the customer chose the S100. Because the plant was also modernizing and automating its water system, the S100 became an important component of the overall water-treatment process.
The S100 demonstrated its performance on the very day it was commissioned, leaving the customer highly satisfied.
The on-site support provided by the FRIESS partner also received unanimous praise from the company’s technical staff.
Specific water-quality data had not yet been collected, but the visual result spoke for itself.
The FRIESS oil skimmer continuously and reliably removes excess oil and grease generated during production.
This improves cooling-water quality and reduces the load on downstream systems, combining sustainability with lower operating costs. Thanks to the S100’s high-quality materials and straightforward operation, the customer benefits from a durable, low-maintenance oil-skimming solution.
