Even small amounts of water can seriously damage hydraulic, lubricating or turbine oils. Oxidation can cause corrosion pockets in pipes and at the bottom of tanks, while rust particles accelerate wear on sliding and bearing surfaces. Air bubbles can also cause cavitation and damage pumps. The insulating performance of transformer and capacitor oils is likewise significantly reduced.
The fully automatic process in the FRIESS vacuum oil dehydration system prevents these problems. In the vacuum chamber, reduced pressure causes water to evaporate and the vapour is extracted by the vacuum pump. The oil then passes through a 3 µm filter to remove coarse particles before returning to the oil circuit through a heat exchanger.
