After a certain period of operation, the particles accumulated on the surface of the magnetic grid should be removed regularly. However, no special maintenance is required. Simply wipe off the accumulated dirt for easy cleaning.
To meet your individual requirements, the FRIESS Magnetic Grid FMG is available in various sizes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What is the difference between an FMG magnetic grid and an FMF magnetic filter?
A: The FMG is an open grid placed directly inside the cutting-fluid or coolant tank ahead of the pump and primarily protects the pump. The FMF is an enclosed in-line filter for finer filtration. They can be combined, with the FMG serving as pre-filtration and the FMF providing fine filtration.
Q2: Is the FMG difficult to install?
A: No. The FMG is placed directly in the tank in front of the pump inlet and requires no pipe connection. Installation usually takes less than 30 minutes.
Q3: How is the FMG cleaned?
A: Remove the grid from the tank periodically and wipe the collected metal particles from the magnetic rods. No special tools or cleaning agents are required, and the collected metal can be recycled.
Q4: Which fluids are suitable for the FMG?
A: The FMG is suitable for cutting fluids, coolants, grinding oils, honing oils and other process fluids containing ferromagnetic particles. Its operating range is 5–60 °C.
Q5: How do I choose between the FMG 310/4 and FMG 420/6?
A: Choose according to pump flow. Use the FMG 310/4 with four rods for flow rates up to 250 L/min and the FMG 420/6 with six rods for 250–500 L/min.
In addition to reducing operating costs, FRIESS oil skimmers, electrostatic oil cleaners, magnetic filters, coolant purification systems, oil-water separators and vacuum oil purifiers provide many further benefits.
We will be pleased to explain how these solutions can improve your process.
