A manufacturer of salad dressings and oil-based marinades needed an efficient way to remove fats and oils from its process wastewater. The existing grease-separation equipment could not provide consistently reliable performance.
The thickness of the fat layer in the grease trap could not be monitored reliably. As a result, fat regularly overflowed into the drainage system, prompting complaints from the downstream municipal wastewater treatment plant and even putting the company’s discharge permit at risk.
The separated fat therefore had to be discharged automatically into a suitable collection container, reducing manual maintenance and improving operational safety.
