Designed for tanks over 800 mm wide, with oil recovery up to 230 L/h and durable ceramic wear parts for continuous low-maintenance operation.

The FRIESS W40 industrial oil skimmer is designed for tanks, cooling-water basins and large process-fluid tanks more than 800 mm wide. It continuously removes floating oil from the liquid surface. The collection-tube length can be configured to suit the tank dimensions and can cover lengths of up to 20 m.
Its design allows stable operation when there is a height difference between the liquid surface and the installation position. It can handle a lifting height of approximately 600 mm, making it suitable for installation on tank edges, platforms or beside equipment.
The robust construction of the FRIESS W40 allows reliable 24-hour operation. Sand, chips and other particles in the oil do not impair the system because all wear-prone components are made from highly wear-resistant ceramic. The skimmer is also manufactured from durable stainless steel, providing long service life and helping reduce maintenance costs.
Depending on the oil viscosity and the thickness of the floating layer, the W40 can recover up to 230 litres of oil per hour. The collection-tube length, installation position and accessories can be selected to suit tanks of different sizes and shapes, supporting stable oil removal and clean process fluids.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What is the difference between the W40 and S100 oil skimmers?
A: The W40 is designed for rectangular tanks more than 800 mm wide, with a lifting height of 600 mm and oil recovery up to 230 L/h. The S100 is intended for larger industrial basins, offers up to 20 m lifting height and can recover up to 500 L/h.
Q2: How long a tank can the W40 cover?
A: The W40 can serve tanks more than 20 m long. Its floating collection tube removes oil across the surface and reliably reaches corner areas.
Q3: Can the W40 operate continuously?
A: Yes. Its robust construction and highly wear-resistant ceramic components support reliable 24-hour operation, even when the liquid contains sand, chips or other particles.
Q4: Is installation complicated?
A: No. The W40 is supplied as a prefabricated system for rapid installation. It can be mounted up to 600 mm above the liquid surface and automatically compensates for liquid-level fluctuations.
Q5: Which industries use the W40?
A: Typical applications include steel production, automotive manufacturing, plant engineering, surface treatment, wastewater treatment and degreasing systems.
Beyond cost savings, FRIESS oil skimmers, electrostatic oil cleaners, magnetic filters, coolant purification systems, oil separators and vacuum dehydrators offer many additional benefits.
