What Makes the 1S Compact Oil Skimmer Different?

Q1: What is the difference between the 1S and 1U oil skimmers?
Both are compact oil skimmers with the same oil recovery capacity of 2–30 L/h. The main difference is the discharge lift: the 1U offers up to 600 mm for installation beside a tank, while the 1S provides up to 10 m for pump pits, underground basins and applications requiring longer-distance oil transfer.
Q2: How small can the tank be?
The 1S can be installed on tanks with a minimum surface area of 500 × 500 mm. Its floating collection tube can be up to 2 m long, making it suitable for small coolant tanks, degreasing tanks, pump pits and wastewater basins.
Q3: What does a 10 m discharge lift mean?
It means the unit can convey recovered oil from the liquid surface to a collection drum located as much as 10 m higher. This is particularly useful for underground or low-lying pump pits where the waste oil must be transferred to ground level.
Q4: Can it handle irregularly shaped tanks?
Yes. The 1S adapts to round, square, open, enclosed, above-ground and underground tanks. FRIESS can also supply collection tubes in lengths matched to the application.
Q5: Is the unit difficult to maintain?
No. Wear components are made from highly wear-resistant ceramic materials, and the unit is designed for continuous 24-hour operation with very little routine maintenance.
